I am getting sick and tired of the antics of certain domiciliary companies. I do not intend to name them directly in this article but I fear that what I am about to say may well ring true throughout the land and hence give the game away.

I received a call in the practice the other day from the daughter of a long-standing patient of mine. She was very worried because this patient, her mother, was staying, as a private resident, in a local residential home where she had been subjected to a cursory sight test by a visiting company. The lady concerned had not asked for a sight test, did not need a sight test, was not housebound in any way and did not have a problem with her eyes.
