On May 3 this year Pulse, a magazine for primary care professionals, ran as one of it headlines the news that the government’s flagship health check scheme was to be reviewed by Public Health England in the light of the fact that it had fallen ‘well short’ of performance targets.
The results of a government-funded evaluation were published this week and some were quite damning while others smacked of previous findings surrounding NHS schemes, not least the accusation of poor initial planning. Interestingly it also found that there had been ‘inadequate engagement of health care professionals’.
