One of the occupational hazards of being part of a large company is the requirement to move ( within the same building) on a seemingly continual basis. Each time we move something else is thrown out or lost. The latest casualty is the Optician picture files. This mixed collection of people and frames only goes back as far as the 1980s but it still seems historic. The problem is that unlike cars, trains and planes there seems to be little interest in pictures of old frames or old optical people.
While they are old they are not interesting enough to be of historic editorial merit. It is also an ad hoc collection so no one is entirely sure what the files contain. On first glance, this appears to be not a lot. Sadly they may be leaving us.
