Frame styles are a strange thing. In the world of optics we live in a kind of bubble where all the styles we see, and the people we see wearing specs, tend to be at the extreme end of the spectrum.

 

 

 

Frame styles are a strange thing. In the world of optics we live in a kind of bubble where all the styles we see, and the people we see wearing specs, tend to be at the extreme end of the spectrum.

Lenses are superlightweight, coated, tinted, photochromic, digitally progressive, contact lenses are silicone hydrogel or coloured. Sunglasses are prescription, progressive, polarised, colour enhancing. Frames are handmade, designer, titanium artisan. Walk down the average high street and things are a little less extreme.

Those who attend Optrafair and the international shows are used to seeing a myriad of styles getting bigger, smaller, rounder, or more square, metal or plastic and then of course there is vintage with a modern twist.
