No stopping this octogenarian

Rory Brogan

While it may be necessary, the idea of working into my 80s isn't one I relish, but here's a heartwarming piece about octogenarians including an optician in Singapore who are doing just that http://thestar.com.my/lifestyle/story.asp?file=/2012/2/22/lifefocus/10730751&sec=lifefocus For an optical readership, the star of the piece is Leow Hock Chin at 83, who played a part in the early days of contact lenses in Singapore in the 1960s and 1970s. In fact he helped form the Singapore Contact Lens Society to help dispel myths such as the story of a woman whose contact lenses melted when she went near a barbeque pit. That has echoes of my recent 'Hot pot problems' post http://www.opticianonline.net/opticianspace/blogs/the_contact_lens_blog/archive/2012/01/11/hot-pot-problems.aspx As well as putting us all to shame by still working 5.5 days a week and with no intention to retire, Mr Chin deserves a special mention for keeping up to date on new contact lens trends by reading Optician. Excellent stuff and I hope he reads this post.
