BCLA's immediate past president Catharine Chisholm commented that the move was in response to an apparent lack of awareness of the risks of water coming into contact with lenses and lens cases. The symbols are a modification of those to mark the right and left eye on boxes and hopefully will really tap into the consciusness of contact lens wearers.
