This month's Bizarre magazine has once again raised the prickly subject of corneal tattooing. Unfortunately the web security in the Optician office doesn't allow us to look at Bizarre's website but the New York Post also had a feature on the procedure.
In a heavily over-cliched article the NYP explained how the online magazine BMEzine.com (short for Body Modification) has covered people's efforts to turn the whites of their eyes blue.
There are clinical reasons why tottooing takes place the said the report but purely cosmetic tattooing was 'extremely dangerous' the it warned.
Dr. Sandra Belmont, a clinical associate professor of ophthalmology at Weill Cornell Medical Center-New York Presbyterian Hospital warned that 'Infection, perforation and hemorrhage (US) are among the potential complications,' she adds.
Removal could also pose a problem, concludes the NYP. If you worry about regretting that yin-yang symbol on your ankle, just think how you'll feel with kaleidoscope eyes.
