Mrs Optician editor's Sunday evenings will never be the same again, well not until the next series of the ITV drama series Downton Abbey which came to an end on Sunday.
The final episode offered some great speculative fodder for optical film continuity nerds.
Mrs Patmore, the cook (left), had been struggling all series with poor eyesight. She was worried about losing her job so had tried to keep the problem hidden, usually at the scullery maid's expense. It turn out she had cataracts and the problem didn't lead to her being thrown out of work ( first continuity error?). Not at all, in fact she was sent off to Moorfields Hospital in London by the Master, what a nice chap, to have her eyesight restored.
