Optics must be part of patient record link

‘It’s about linking things together,’ Optician heard this week at a high profile practice opening. But cross-sector patient records remain the missing link beyond the control of practitioners.

The journal was invited to Bluewater Shopping Centre in Kent last week to see the ribbon being cut at the latest John Lewis Opticians outlet.

Dozens of John Lewis staff arrived early at the store to celebrate the new arrival – perhaps familiar with the Champagne and truffle treatment to mark such occasions there.

Spirits were high and the new practice did not disappoint from fashionable frames, thanks to the retailer’s tie-up with Luxottica, to latest pre-screening, consulting room and lab technology.
