Here's an unusual contact lens-related news item as Taiwan has warned its nationals not to wear the popular coloured and circle contact lenses in their passport photos: http://news.asiaone.com/news/relax/dont-wear-colored-contacts-passport-photos-taiwanese-told The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that they could be denied entry into the US and European Union because the photos on their passports would be significantly different to their appearance.

The article points out that while such contact lens wear does not violate International Civil Aviation Organisation regulations, it could lead to an application being denied or a refusal for entry on an overseas visit. The American Institute in Taiwan has already posted on its website that coloured contact lenses are not acceptable in its US visa photo specifications.
