One of the best things about my job is getting out and meeting people in the business. I had the pleasure yesterday of travelling to Cambridgeshire to meet the guys at the prescription lab Eye Index.
We had a productive chat about Eye Index's Base 8 glazing and rimless expertise and a look around the lab and all of these elements will make their way into the feature that will follow.
The great thing about the day was meeting up with director Tony Harris. His office sports a massive Rolling Stones poster and we had a fantastic chat about bands we had seen or planned to see and Tony's love of rock gigs. Best of all was Tony comment on the changing styles and trends in the business.
'In the future,' he said straight faced. ' scientists will discover unknown areas of the moon and on them they will find loads of used optical equipment and unglazed frames. One things for sure, he said. All of the frames that have been sold haven't be glazed so who knows where they ended up!
