Picking your favourite on Optrafair weekend

There is a strong feeling of calm before the storm on the Optician news desk today – and without a sweepstake in sight.

As spring arrives so too does a new CET cycle and the staging of the profession’s best-established gathering.

Birmingham NEC plays host to Optrafair on April 9-11, while the neighbouring Vox events venue will stage the showcase Optician Awards on Saturday evening.

From a journalistic point of view, having the whole profession in one place looking to talk optics for three days straight, at times with a drink in hand, is a mouth-watering prospect.

Industry suppliers of contact lenses, spectacle frames, sunglasses, instrumentation and lab equipment have the opportunity to excite with latest product, technology and solutions to help practices evolve. Meanwhile, an education programme allows practitioners to get their CET cycle off to a flyer. All this on none other than Grand National weekend.
