When you beat the big boys at their own game you then become a target for said companies and that is very much the case with Sauflon, with news of its acquisition for $1.2bn by The Cooper Companies.

Sauflon’s latest innovations, with a complete family of daily disposable silicone hydrogel contact lenses, have certainly paid off, firstly through recognition and expansion, now through a billion-dollar deal.

Cooper in its acquisition statement points out the leverage the deal gives CooperVision in the daily disposable market, not long after its launch of its own SiH daily MyDay. At the same time, Sauflon cites the move as enabling its product range to be taken to more markets globally in a faster timescale.
