Is 2024 going to be the year when tech-enabled eyewear finally makes its mark on the optical sector? Even as an eyewear tech cynic, I have a feeling it may well be.

The catalyst for this shift in mood is a result of buzz around the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas this month. As the largest electronics trade show in the world, the key runners and riders of the technology industry use the event to launch their key wares for the year ahead.

Joining the established tech players at the show for the first time is EssilorLuxottica. With a dedicated ‘super audio team’, the Italian company is looking to really leverage hearing technology following the acquisition of Israeli audiology start-up, Nuance.
