There’s a new deal for health in town. Its starting point is delivering for patients – which has to be good news. What am I talking about? I’m talking about the new partnership between the NHS in England and the independent sector, signed last month. 

There are three main reasons why we can be positive about this new agreement. By leveraging the strengths of both the NHS and independent providers, it will help us in our collective mission to make things better for patients. 

Reason number one: it enables the capacity of the wider health service to be used to deliver equitable access to care and treatment for NHS patients.
