The ministry of ministries

I had to chuckle at the latest Law Commission report on the regulation of regulators.

It spelled out the action that needed to be taken to increase the effectiveness of the many regulators. Apart from the fact that in the run down of current regulators the GOC was missed out the report also let it be known that regulators should actively seek out poor practice and unregulated working. It also suggested new regulators for currently unregulated roles and that there should be a single framework for regulators to work under. Value for money should be demonstrated and regulators should work with other regulators.

The press release for the report, which contains the draft Bill, was issued by The Law Commission of England and Wales, backed by that of Scotland and err also the Law Commission of Northern Ireland. Perhaps a single Law Commission would be a good pl;ace to start in the drive to value for money.
