UV protection

The American Optometric Association has awarded the Acuvue Advance Plus brand contact lenses with the Seal of Acceptance for UV Absorbing Contact lenses, the sixth lens in the Acuvue line to receive the approval. The chair of AOA's Commision on Ophthalmic Standards states that UV-blocking contact lenses provide important added protection and they should be worn in conjunction with UV-blocking sunglasses and a wide-brimmed hat. I wonder how relevant this is for the UK, given our paltry levels of sunshine, although it would be nice to know that it you're wearing contact lenses they do have this protection. http://tinyurl.com/6h5temf
