Regular dialogue with local ophthalmologists and hospital managers should be top of the to-do list

Locsu was delighted to play a significant part in the first ever national NHS eye health summit last week. It’s been frustrating that no national strategy emerged from the Call to Action with the NHS looking for change to be driven locally.

LOCs, with Locsu support were at the heart of many of the examples showcased by CCGs and Acute Trusts at the ‘Demand and Capacity’ conference. A key success factor was CCGs, Acute Trusts, LOCs and patient groups collaborating to reshape services.

Locsu pathways being delivered in optical practices were key to reducing hospital referrals. Services as post-op cataract and glaucoma repeat readings along with Mecs ease pressures.
