When the lack of awareness of children’s vision is discussed in the profession, a question which often crops up is: how can we get this message across to parents, in the same way that dentists have?
The AOP has actively championed children’s eye health for many years. And, with the help of members sharing their patient stories, we’ve interviewed many families and children. One of the recurring themes to emerge is that parents often just don’t realise that their child can’t see properly. This won’t come as a surprise to practitioners who deal with these cases everyday; but what we are concerned with is how we address this through our member resources and media activity.
