View from the High Street: How can we lead the competitive pack?

Do we actually realise the importance of not falling into the trap of linear thinking on a daily basis at work?

Everyone knows the old phrase: ‘If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!’ But do we actually realise the importance of not falling into the trap of linear thinking on a daily basis at work?

Of course, I am not suggesting that linear thinking is always a poor approach, but with the new challenges of such a fast-paced world, how do we manage not just to stay ahead of the competitive pack but perhaps to lead it?

A recent significant expansion in my practice has forced me to consider that perhaps the way we have been successfully organising ourselves for the last 10 years might no longer be the right way to continue. It is easy to apply the ‘don’t fix it if it’s not broken’ rule and particularly if you feel what you have been doing is working really well, but if the one constant is change then are we changing with the times fast enough?
