View from the High Street: Patients lap up bank holiday opening at the practice – and at the pub

Ross Campbell reflects on the May bank holiday, a boozy customer and the Tour de Yorkshire

The recent May Day bank holiday was a drab affair in North Yorkshire. The weather changed from rainy, to sleety, to sunny, and then there was a hailstorm, just to complete the set. Fortunately for me I was being kept busy working in my practice with a clinic full of patients.

With an ever-increasing number of customers, we chose to start opening the practice on Sundays and bank holidays almost six years ago now, and it never ceases to amaze me how popular these days are. For those who work Monday to Friday, and only have weekends available to have their eye appointments, the added convenience of being able to be seen on Sundays or bank holidays is well received.
