Well that's told me then -- A lightbulb moment

I am often contact about Optician the magazine but I am now being contacted by people who want me to start blogging about their own bugbears. One recent caller actually echoed a very similar call I had from an Optician reader so I thought why not share it. Of course all of the follwoing views have been contributed and are not mine. The issue is lightbulbs, low energy ones to be precise. Both of the opticians, optoms I believe, were seeing a lot of patients in practice who are concerned about the levels of light thrown off by low energy lightbulbs. Let's get a bit technical. Low energy lightbulbs are in fact compact fluorescent units and as such throw off the same colour temerature as fluorescent tube lighting, the kind found in most office lighting. This isn't too bad when you have a couple of hundred already warmed up across a retail floor but flick on the switch at the top of the stairs to walk to the bottom and you might have a problem. Just had to get that off my chest. 'Nuff said.
