You wait for one piece of media coverage and then.......

Optics is always bemoaning its lack of exposure in the media but the last week has seen a rash of stories about the sector.

First we had Jamie Murray Well spotted in Westminster Abbey at the royal wedding. He was also picked out in the colour suplements as an optical internet entrepreneur. Less positive was Optical Express' treatment. It got the Watchdog treatment from Anne Robinson on its laser eye surgery business. Finally by the weekend things were really heating up as Mary Perkins was lauded as the UK first self-made female billionaire. All different stories in their own rights but all ones that will bring optics to the attention of the public.
