Patel shows when post-op vision wasn't as expected after cataract extraction

Optometrists have the toughest of jobs of ironing out issues that present post-cataract surgery. We sometimes have to play both detective and forensic scientist, meticulously shifting through anterior to posterior segments in search of clues to the cause of sight loss.

In this article, I cite two cases where patients were very unhappy with the outcome of their cataract operation and where it was left to a humble optometrist to investigate the root of the problem and, consequently, help the patient see better.

In any ways, this first case has similarities with the case of Fuchs’ endothelial dystrophy discussed in the last case study in this series.
