Irish eyewear brand borne out pandemic

Optic Eyewear was founded by Cathal O’Shea and Sean Nolan

An optometrist from Cork, Cathal O’Shea, and a designer from Dublin, Sean Nolan, have launched a frames brand called Optic Eyewear after developing the idea during Covid-19.

Optic was described by the founders as bold, courageous and unapologetically Irish, and has been designed for glasses wearers who want to trust the quality of the product while looking good.

Frames in its first collection of spectacles, which launched in Spring, 2022, were given Irish names, such as Collins, Robinson and Larkin and are available online.

Nolan, creative director at Optic, said: ‘It took a pandemic to finally provide us with the perfect opportunity for Optic to be birthed. We’re really proud of what we've put together. With Optic we are aiming to deliver a high-quality premium product experience at a price point that’s accessible to everyone.’
