UK healthcare investment business Optimism Health Group has acquired the domiciliary eye care provider OutsideClinic as part of plans to expand in the eye and hearing care sectors.
Optimism Health Group intends to build a portfolio of businesses providing technology solutions, clinical services and healthcare products in domiciliary settings.
Henry Pitman, chair of Optimism Health Group, said: ‘This business, which already operates nationally, has the potential to expand rapidly both in the UK and in due course into mainland Europe, providing ‘at home’ services not only to older people, who struggle to get to a high street optician, but also to other demographics who do not want to visit the high street, preferring to see an optometrist or audiologist in the comfort of their own home.’
OutsideClinic was founded 33 years ago by Damian Kenning and provides over 100,000 eye and hearing tests annually.
‘We have built OutsideClinic to become a substantial national provider of domiciliary eye and hearing tests, with the very highest clinical standards. I am pleased that Optimism Health Group plans to continue the development of this first-class business to create a substantial group focused on the fast-growing domiciliary sector,’ Kenning said.
