How can Stephen Bryan keep a straight face and suggest a 10-minute free eye test (and sandwich) makes a mockery of his fine profession, when he works for Specsavers? Only this week, I received their pamphlet proudly advertising not one, but two free eye test vouchers on the back cover.
I do not care what amount of time anyone takes over a free eye test since no profession that wants to be taken seriously should ever offer their services for free. And of course, surprise, surprise, the voucher cannot be used by anyone already entitled to a free NHS-funded eye test because Specsavers sees no contradiction whatsoever charging the struggling NHS £21.31, while charging the private customer nothing.
