What is your diagnosis?
1. Optic nerve head drusen
Optic nerve head drusen are rarely sight threatening. Early in their development they are buried beneath the surface of the disc, later they become exposed and more easily visible. They are associated with vascular anomalies.
They can be imaged with fundus imaging, autofluorescence imaging, ultrasound B-Scan and CT Scan.
Other associations include retinitis pigmentosa and angioid streaks.
Complications can include progressive field loss, anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy, peripapillary choroidal neovascularization, disc haemorrhage and central retinal vein occlusion.
Would you observe, discharge or refer to hospital eye service?
