The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) is currently seeking stakeholders' views on changing the system of driver vision screening in the UK, and a number of road safety organisations will be responding with views. The positions of the optical bodies and other stakeholders have already been set out in some detail by earlier parts of this series. A number of claims and counterclaims have been made by both sides in this debate about the UK public's and also practitioners' opinions on vision and driving. This article will review what we know about the attitudes of both to drivers' vision.
