Caroline Christie reports from the recent The 7th Annual European Academy of Optometry and Optics (EAOO) conference in Budapest

More delegates than ever before attended this year’s annual EAOO conference, with over 300 optometrists, dispensing and contact lens opticians coming together from 44 countries, across Europe and beyond. The conference delivered an impressive three-day programme, featuring 36 sessions covering a wide range of topics. These included the visual consequences of traumatic brain injury, the impact of short wavelength visible light on health, age-related macular degeneration, irregular corneas and their management, and the latest on dry eye. There were also sessions on reducing contact lens ‘dropouts’, the latest tools for teaching optometry, optical humanitarianism and even how to become a happy optometrist!
