‘I LOVE ME PIES’ – SARAH MORGAN

Eccentric Wigan-born optometrist, staff development consultant and author of the ‘Complete Optometric Assistant’, Sarah Morgan, was the ideal candidate for this week’s Look Local. She recently made the parody video ‘I love me pies’ extolling Wigan’s pies and says the best aspects of Wigan are its unassuming residents and their broad accents.

She told Optician: ‘Wigan was a great place to grow up. The people have a very grounded attitude to life, realistic, friendly and caring. Wigan people are ordinary, friendly folk and like to chat and enjoy their rugby league and, more recently, football. A roof over their head and food on the table are basic priorities which are well understood. Fashion is frivolous in Wigan, and smart dress doesn't matter to most but comfort does.’
