As the half-year results are now in we are reviewing how the benchmarks have performed for the first six months of the calendar year against the same period in 2013 and 2012, alongside our normal analysis of how the figures measure up to last month and last June. The first half of 2014 has seen the results for total practice turnover and turnover per eye examination matching those of last year and the value of solutions sold exceeding the same period in 2013. The not so positive news is that, with the exception of progressive lenses, the sales volume of spectacles, contact lens new fits and the number of eye examinations carried out is lower for the first six months of the year than 2013 and 2012 and the results in June have not reached those of last month.
