100% Optical Preview 1: Giving you 100%

Optician explores highlights of the exhibition, focusing on optical equipment
Optician highlighted the brands exhibiting at the event and where to find them, with a focus on optical equipment.

New opportunities

‘Visitors can expect our very best show yet, with our strongest and most comprehensive exhibitor line up to date. It’s two years and three months since the last 100% Optical and that extra time has allowed us to add new companies, and compile the best speaker programme we have ever had at the show,' said Nathan Garnett, event director of 100% Optical. 'We are expanding into ophthalmology to help eye care professionals adjust to closer working with the NHS and also have a number of keynote sessions to debate the state of the industry and discuss the opportunities that 2022 holds for opticians.

‘Registrations for this event are higher than ever, demonstrating how much people have missed meeting each other, seeing new and existing suppliers and taking care of their professional development at 100% Optical.’

Precise production

On display for the first time at 100% Optical will be the MEI EZFit Edger from Mainline Optical Connections, who will be hosting demonstrations on stand M09. The device has been engineered for labs with limited space and it features a precise, intelligent focimeter and centring all lens types with no glazing pads needed. The company said dual auto loading for both lenses speeds up processing times with very quick cycle times and precise edging encompasses all frame variables and continual running for high production.

Long lasting comfort

Avizor will showcase two new eye care solutions for ocular dryness and contact lens care

on stand B314. Its Ozean eye drops have been developed with an exclusive formula with biotechnology specifically designed to alleviate symptoms of ocular dryness and eye fatigue. The hyptonic solution is made from natural ingredients to provide long lasting comfort and improve stability and tear volume. Avizor will also launch Regard, a multipurpose contact lens care solution that releases oxygen on the eye. It said Regard’s OxyChlorite molecule combines efficacy and safety to provide comfort and improved ocular health.

Diagnostic devices

Zeiss will showcase its range of diagnostic equipment on stand M100, which it said practices could utilise in shared care schemes for diagnostic pathways for glaucoma and retina. Devices on display include Cirrus OCT, Clarus ultra-widefield fundus camera and HFA3 visual field analyser. Free copies of its Field Analyzer Primer Excellent Perimetry will also be available on a first come first serve basis.

Efficient Equipment

Mainline Instruments will showcase its iCare DRSplus on stand M130, which the company said offers focus, quality and comfort. The confocal fundus imaging system used white LED illumination to produce TrueColor and detail-rich images, which it said set a new effective and efficient standard of retinal imaging. Mainline will also demonstrate other equipment from its range, including the iCare Eidon Family, Home2 Tonometers and Huvitz HOCT-1.

Speedy Solutions

Heidelberg Engineering have announced new software and hardware that it said would enhance image quality and workflow of its Spectralis imaging platform. Shift technology has been introduced to enable practitioners to switch between OCT scan speeds, which could accelerate speed to 125kHz or slow down to 20kHz. Other enhancements include the enhanced vitreous imaging mode, which Heidelberg said optimises visualisation of details in the vitreous, and a new widefield reflectance filter, which improves usability and increases image quality for MultiColor and IR images captured with the widefield lens.
