Community eye care provider Aces has been approved by North West London and Kent and Medway Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) to begin treating NHS patients in White City and Dartford.
Services will be delivered from Optical Express clinics, with the expansion aimed at reducing the backlog for cataract surgery in both areas.
Stephen Hannan, clinical services director at Optical Express and Aces, said: ‘This partnership has been crucial in supporting NHS patients up and down the country to get the visual care they need.’
With long waiting lists for cataract surgery being one of the most pressing challenges in the eye care sector, according to Hannan, Aces’ typical treatment time of just four weeks from pre-assessment marked a significant step forward.
