Aces gains approval to treat Birmingham NHS patients

Community eye care provider Aces has received approval from Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board (ICB) to deliver NHS cataract surgery services. 

The approval represented a step towards reducing the cataract surgery backlog in the region and shortening waiting times for patients in need of care. 

Aces surgeons will treat NHS patients at Optical Express’ clinic in Birmingham, with treatment typically taking place within four weeks of pre-assessment. 

Stephen Hannan, clinical services director at Optical Express and Aces, remarked: ‘This partnership has been crucial in supporting NHS patients up and down the country to get the visual care they need.
