Aces, an independent provider of NHS eye care services, has rolled out a new programme designed to give optometrists firsthand experience in cataract surgery procedures.
Titled ‘A day in the life’, the initiative allowed participants to observe Aces employed optometrists in action, including pre- and post-operative consultations, as well as cataract surgery procedures in the theatre.
Stephen Hannan, clinical service director at Optical Express and Aces, said: ‘“A day in the life” is a great opportunity for optometrists to develop their knowledge, skills and abilities.’
The programme was available across 16 Aces treatment centres nationwide, offering participants the chance to earn up to four continuing professional development (CPD) points.
