Eye care product manufacturer Alcon reported a fourth-quarter net profit jump of 16.1 per cent to $1.22bn in 2006 compared to the same period last year when it took a patent litigation charge.
The company said in 2005 it incurred charges related to damage sustained to its facility in the UK and to an adverse judgement in a patent lawsuit filed by one of its competitors in the fourth quarter of that year.
? For the full year 2006, Alcon reported global sales of $4,896.6m.
