Optometrist and former chair of the Association of Optometrists (AOP), Trevor Warburton, has been recognised by the association with a lifetime achievement award.
Speaking about the accolade, Warburton said: ‘It is nice to feel that your contribution is recognised. I always felt that chairing the AOP was the pinnacle of the profession. In a personal achievement sense, it is a highlight.’
The AOP presented Warbuton with the award, which was sponsored by Alcon, at a celebratory event on the Sunborn Yacht in London during 100% Optical.
Warburton opened his first optical practice in Stockport 17 months after qualifying. He joined his local optometric committee in 1982 and was later chair before holding a director role at the AOP and then chair between 2006 and 2008.
