AOP recognises researcher Bruce Evans

Professor Bruce Evans was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award

Professor Bruce Evans was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Association of Optometrists (AOP) at a ceremony held during the weekend of 100% Optical.

The researcher and author has written over 260 publications, including eight editions of textbooks, and he said it was a surprise and a honour to receive the award.

“[I have] a huge sense of gratitude because it is really a reflection of the teams that I’ve worked with and of the people that have inspired me,’ Prof Evans said.

The AOP also recognised optometrist Simon Berry for sustainable excellence, Professor James Wolffsohn for research excellence, as well as Sharon Beatty and Gareth Bulpin for excellence in community-led care.

Berry commented: ‘It was a complete surprise. The award means that people care about the issues and recognise it. It is a lovely award to be recognised for.’
