AOP chairman Trevor Warburton is expected to back a FODO proposal for closer ties between the optical bodies, and the possible creation of a Confederation of British Optics in his speech at the Association's AGM next week.
Warburton will tell delegates that the relocation of ABDO, FODO and FMO head offices to Gloucester Terrace, London five years ago was an important milestone for collaborative working. He will point out that the fees review, vouchers and domiciliary committees are all joint arrangements.
Other proposals for the AGM include establishing joint committees on public affairs, regulation and domiciliary eye care. Warburton will also propose that each committee should share an agreed chair and secretariat, rotating on agreed schedules between the bodies.
