Carroll calls for optics to unite

The Federation of Dispensing Opticians (FODO) is calling for a closer working relationship between optical bodies on the model of the Eye Health Alliance, which could lead to the creation of a new Confederation of British Optics.

The proposal will be outlined at FODO's AGM on May 13 by its chairman Paul Carroll, who will also outline the sector's achievements over the past year as well as the pressures on the markets and the threat of over-regulation.

Carroll's address will focus on the success achieved by the Eye Health Alliance in raising the profile of eye health with the government as well as the NHS and social services.
