The current editor of Ophthalmic and Physiological Optics (OPO), Dr Gilmartin will continue with his teaching commitments at the university. 'Essentially my role within the department will stay the same,' he told optician. 'I will look towards expanding research within the department and continue as convenor of the Ophthalmic and Physiological Research Group, which is based at the department of vision sciences.' Dr Gilmartin, whose research interest includes human myopia, explained that he was working towards establishing more links within the university departments, in particular those which constituted the school of health sciences. 'I am also keen to expand links with other optometry departments throughout the UK,' he added.
