Barbie celebrates her 40th birthday next month, and to mark the event, French designer Alain Mikli has brought out a limited series of acetate sunglasses around this popular doll. The range is aimed at women though, not little girls.
The designer has used two themes in the collection, titled Barbie par Mikli. Frames feature sides in the shape of legs, which are synonymous with the doll's glamorous image. For the second theme sides are made in the shape of a comb, which should also attract those who want to wear the frame as a hairband. The sunglasses come in black and tortoiseshell, as well as pastel shades of crystal and pink. Laminates are also used.
