An optical name that dates back to the 1940s has been placed in liquidation.
The practice of Barrow Nesbitt in Skelmersdale, Lancashire went into a voluntary creditors' liquidation earlier this month following an extraordinary general meeting.
Director of the company, Rajendra Kumar Chopra, signed the liquidation documents, which stated: 'It has been proved to the satisfaction of this meeting that the company cannot, by reason of its liabilities, continue its business, and that it is advisable to wind up.'
Mr Chopra is listed in the Opticians Register as being an optometrist at three other Merseyside outlets, including one listed as 'Barrow Nesbitt'.
Ken Sexton, assistant manager of Manchester based liquidator Begbies Traynor, said: 'The company was formed in 1947, and was subsequently sold on. There is nothing to be sold on by the company, as its premises were rented.'
