BCLA holds webinar on dangers of counterfeit CLs

BCLA will present the webinar ‘Counterfeit lenses and Self-fitting' on the ‘disastrous’ online availability of fake corrective lenses at 6.30pm on Tuesday July 12, 2022.

Accessible to both BCLA members and non-members, the session follows the association’s educational goals from the recent Love Your Lenses Week exploring research on the dangers of counterfeit contact lenses and self-fitting.

Claire McDonnell, webinar presenter and optometry lecturer at Technological University Dublin, said: ‘The combination of a self-fitted contact lens wearer and counterfeit lenses could prove disastrous. Awareness needs to be raised amongst eye care practitioners (ECPs) of counterfeit lenses and the practice of self-fitting.
