Bringing together speakers from four European countries, the British Contact Lens Association’s first ever European day will take place in London on February 9.
The special CET conference will examine similarities and differences across European markets. Chaired by Dr Philip Morgan, director of Eurolens research at the University of Manchester, the conference will provide the latest information on daily disposables, orthokeratology, continuous wear and presbyopia.
Explaining what the BCLA hopes to achieve through the conference, Morgan said: ‘We know that the contact lens markets around Europe vary significantly both in terms of the penetration of lenses into the population and the types of contact lenses prescribed, but we don’t understand very well why this is.’
Presentations will include ‘Orthokeratology – why do it’ by Wim Werrelman from the Netherlands, a round-table discussion about contact lens fitting across Europe and a lecture on new lens developments and what practitioners can expect to see by 2020 by Dr Morgan.
Registration for the BCLA European day costs £85 for members (£120 for non-members). Visit www.bcla.org.uk or call 020 7580 6661.
