A civil suit filed by Bausch & Lomb against Alcon Laboratories in June seeking to stop an advertising campaign which it alleged contained misleading claims about ReNu Multiplus and other CL solutions has been settled.

In a joint statement issued this week the companies said a settlement was reached and the lawsuit dismissed without any payment of damages.

The complaint centred on the red/yellow/green colour-coding corneal staining chart from US optometrist Dr Gary Andrasko, whose research was sponsored by an Alcon Research grant. Alcon had used the chart to communicate that green solution and lens combinations are safe, yellow combinations warrant caution and red are unsafe and should be avoided.
