B&L seeks damages over 'deceitful claims'

Bausch & Lomb filed a civil suit against Alcon Laboratories in New York on June 26, seeking to stop its advertising campaign which it alleges contains false and misleading claims about ReNu MultiPlus and other CL solutions.

Bausch & Lomb filed a civil suit against Alcon Laboratories in New York on June 26, seeking to stop its advertising campaign which it alleges contains false and misleading claims about ReNu MultiPlus and other CL solutions.

B&L is seeking damages for the loss of sales 'based on Alcon's deceitful claims', as well as corrective advertising.

The complaint centres on the red/yellow/green colour-coding corneal staining chart from US optometrist Dr Gary Andrasko, whose research was sponsored by an Alcon Research grant. Alcon has used the chart to communicate that green solution and lens combinations are safe, yellow combinations warrant caution and red are unsafe and should be avoided.
