Bausch+Lomb is suing CIBA Vision in the US over a CIBA advertising campaign on the efficacy of solutions in killing Acanthamoeba.

The suit, filed in New York, concerns an advertisement that alleges CIBA's Clear Care contact lens solution is better than B+L's ReNu MultiPlus solution at killing Acanthamoeba. The CIBA ad, that appeared in publications such as Review of Optometry, alleged that Clear Care was completely effective at eliminating Acanthamoeba, while ReNu did not kill them at all. B+L alleged that the ad was based on a questionable study and it also misreported findings of the study, and asserted that the study did not record ReNu's efficacy at killing Acanthamoeba, while overstating Clear Care's efficacy.
