Bausch & Lomb has revealed to delegates at the American Academy of Ophthalmology a cataract technique which reduces the incision needed to just 1.8mm.

B&L's Stellaris Vision Enhancement System uses an array of sub-2mm instruments and, outside the US, an intraocular lens for use with micro-incisional surgery to make cataract operations more comfortable and speed recovery times.

Current state of the art techniques require an incision of 2.8mm.
